ASAP Rocky: LiveLoveA$AP

ASAP's been getting a lot of attention on the blogs (as I expected) and this tape was one of the most anticipated of the week (which is impressive considering it's his first tape). He gives us his very chill/stoner sound and I think it goes over very well. I usually have one chilled out rapper I listen to on repeat (Wiz, Curren$y, and Kid Cudi all took that spot at some point) and it's looking like ASAP's gonna be my latest! Update!: Thought I'd review a few more songs.

Tracklist:
  1. Palace [Prod. Clams Casino] - Very cinematic beat from Casino Clams. ASAP Rocky spits on where he got his roots from. He switches his flow up at the end into something a little more speedy. For some reason, I like his slow and choppy flow (unlike 2 Chainz). "God damn, how real is this?" is a veryyy catchy chorus ahah.
  2. Peso [Prod. ASAP Ty Beats] - One of the more well known songs from ASAP. This one's got a really dope, echo-y beat from Ty Beats. The Chorus has got a dope chopped and screwed reggae sample. And whoever the singer was.. well they have a dope voice. Great song.
  3. Bass [Prod. Clams Casino]
  4. Wassup [Prod. Clams Casino] - Even more relaxed beat from Casino Clams. I wanna know where they got that vocal sample from, cuz he flipped it hella well. The chorus is ridiculously relaxing. Nice and chill joint here.
  5. Brand New Guy (feat. ScHoolboy Q) [Prod. Lyle] - I like this one already because the producer has got my middle name. But anyways, it's a very slow but hard hitting beat. It fits ASAP's flow perfectly. He's not a great rapper, but he gets you hyped and he's the type of dude who's fans learn all his verses. Schoolboy Q (one of my favorites) is extremely nice here. I love the way he speeds up his flow as he goes further in the verse. Dope track.
  6. Purple Swag: Chapter 2 (feat. SpaceghostPurrp & ASAP Nast) [Prod. ASAP Ty Beats]
  7. Get Lit (feat. Fat Tony) [Prod. Soufein3000]
  8. Trilla (feat. ASAP Twelvy & ASAP Nast) [Prod. Beautiful Lou] - Cool beat with a repetitive, but catchy southern guitar beat. The three ASAP's go off here. This group that Rocky is involved with seems to have some serious talent.
  9. Keep It G (feat. Chace Infinite & Spaceghost Purrp) [Prod. Spaceghost Purrp] - This could honestly be the most relaxed track of the year. It makes your body want to turn liquid ahah if that makes sense. ASAP sounds like a simple rapper, but he's definitely got some dope lines here. It's interesting that his style of rapping makes him sound a lot more basic, but he actually spits some tough shit. The chorus is fuckin' gorgeous by the way. Favorite Song!!!
  10. Kissin’ Pink (feat. ASAP Ferg) [Prod. Beautiful Lou] - This sounds like some vintage Outkast. It features on of the many other ASAPs he works with (I can't keep track of them all). The chorus is another sleepy, but catchy chorus. H-Town music right here.
  11. Houston Old Head [Prod. DJ Burn One]
  12. Acid Drip [Prod. Soufein3000]
  13. Leaf (feat. Main Attrakionz) [Prod. Clams Casino] - Very space-like beat here. ASAP starts this track off hot where he speaks about all the shit he's tired of. I feel him on being tired of all the hipsters. When I saw the title I thought it would be a weed song. But it's much deeper than that. It's about all the shit he has to deal with while he becomes a force in the rap game.
  14. Roll One Up [Prod. DJ Burn One]
  15. Demons [Prod. Clams Casino]
  16. Out Of This World [Prod. The Olympicks] {Bonus}
