Slept On Volume 1

Well this is basically just a bunch of tracks from artists that I like that I've never really listened to (and should have).

Tracklist:

1. Ace Hood: Tear Da Roof Off - Ever since his verse on "Future" I've been on an Ace Hood hype. This one's a bonus track on his latest album "Blood Sweat and Tears." The beat is a hardhitting banger. Ace flexes his impecable flow. He's got one of the better flows in the game IMO.
2. 50 Cent & Eminem: GATman & Robbin - Speakin of good flows, Shady's on this marks the most interesting rapping style I've ever heard. But it works over the old Batman theme song sampled song. This one's a classic.
3. Mos Def: Wahid - Although "The Ecstatic" was kind of disaster, this was one of the few songs that really worked. It's got a short Madlib beat. Mos Def spits his ass off. If he could actually remain consistant and put effort into his albums, he'd be in my top 5.
4. Jadakiss, Ghostface & Raekwon: Cartel Gathering - This shit's some mafia music. Jadakiss + Wu Tang Clan... Need I say more?
5. Jadakiss, Si & Styles P: Come and Get Me - Another one from that "Last Kiss" album. Styles and Jadakiss collabs are always great. "Much harder fighting when the battle is uphill"... warrior music from Jadakiss.
6. Busta Rhymes: Fate of the World - This is off his prelude tape "I Bullshit You Not." It's got a very cool vocal sample. It's a very simple track where Busta shows the world he's one of the most underrated lyricists in the game. People always look beyond that he can actually rap his ass off.. he's more than just a great flow artist.
7. Busta Rhymes: Genesis - J. Dilla produced this one. So you know the beat is gorgeous. This one's got a very young and hungry Busta Buss goin' off. "Starving till' my skin was suffocating my ribs." Damn there's the sign of striving rapper.
8. Busta Rhymes & Reek Da Villian: Close The Door - Another soulful track. It's on some random tape I found. It's got a really summer-y feel to it.
9. Busta Rhymes & Big Tigga: If You Don't Know Now You Know - Very cool conceptual track. The idea of the interview is well executed. Busta speaks on career moves and rumors. I wish Big Tigga coulda had way less bars, but Busta does well enough that it's not a problem,
10. Busta Rhymes & Jelly Roll: Sugar - Very strange beat. Sounds a lot like "Speakerboxxx" instrumentals or something. Anyways, Busta speaks lyrical sex over this one ahaha. Busta's never had a classic, but this album is the closest he's come.
11. Busta Rhymes & Swizz Beatz: New York Shit - NY anthem. Busta officially owns New York... and Swizz Beatz officially needs to shut the fuck up.
12. Raekwon & Beanie Sigel: Have Mercy - This was on his sequel to his class "Only Built 4 Cuban Linx." Beanie Sigel actually gives a very heartfelt verse about being in jail striving for drugs and wanting to see his son. Raekwon flexes his lyrical assassination.
13. Raekwon & The Game: About Me - Rae goes off. He's definitely the best lyricist in Wu Tang (Ghost is the best storyteller). Game's pretty good as well.
14. Mos Def & Busta Rhymes: Do It Now - This one's probably the most slept on out of all these songs. The beat is perhaps one of the most unique pieces I've ever heard. Busta blazes through this one. And Mos Def makes the perfect pair. The two flip bars to make a perfect underground track. This one's my favorite on "Black on Both Sides."
